Alcalá Beach: a family-friendly and sheltered setting, with nearby natural pools and a very pleasant promenade to stroll along at sunset.

Siam Park: Tenerife’s most famous water park, about a 25-minute drive away, featuring dedicated children’s areas and attractions for all ages. It is one of the island’s star plans when travelling with kids.

· Whales and dolphins watching from Los Gigantes: boat excursions depart daily from the marina to spot wild dolphins and pilot whales, which live in these waters year-round. Many include a stop for swimming and views of the cliffs from the sea.

· Loro Parque: located in Puerto de la Cruz, just over an hour’s drive away. One of Europe’s best-known zoos, ideal for a full-day visit.

· Teide National Park: an unforgettable excursion for slightly older children, featuring volcanic landscapes that look like another planet. Dress warmly: temperatures drop significantly at high altitude, even in summer.

Cofete Beach: spectacular landscape in the north of the Jandía peninsula, but with strong currents and no lifeguard surveillance, so it is recommended only for walking or taking photos with children, not for swimming. Access is via a dirt track, best done on an organized 4×4 excursion.

Jandía Promenade: a safe pedestrian and bicycle path connecting the beaches with the old town of Morro Jable, perfect for a stroll with a stroller or bike at sunset.

Practical tips for travelling with children to the Canary Islands

Best time to visit: the weather is mild year-round, but summer (June–September) is when most families travel due to school holidays.
Sun protection: the Canarian sun is intense even on cloudy days; use high-protection sunscreen and reapply every 2 hours, especially between 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM.
